Gamma was founded in 1993 in Dublin as a GIS technology company with links to Trinity College. GIS was in its infancy and whilst its use in the public sector was growing. Gamma was established to develop applications for GIS in the emerging business sector, and our small group of developers and GIS consultants pioneered the use of GIS in the Irish private sector.
We founded our sister company Autoaddress to create better solutions for address matching and geocoding.
Our sister company Gamma Risk develops the Perilfinder™ platform for underwriters. Perilfinder™ provides instant property-level risk profiles for major perils including flood, subsidence, windstorm, and fire.
Eircode, the Irish Postcode system and the first property level postcode in the OECD is commenced on 28 April. Autoaddress is a key member of the consortium that designs and delivers the innovative postcode. Eircode was officially launched for public use in July 2015.
Autoaddress acquires Data Ireland from An Post. This move has brought additional customers and data into the company’s portfolio.
Our sister company, Gamma Risk, enters the UK market initially with the Perilfinder™ platform and Risk APIs solutions, later adding property level characteristic APIs through our AddressLink™ database.
Gamma wins the Analytics & AI Awards from the by Analytics Insitute.
Gamma Labs launches a new retrofit education technology, BERWOW based on learnings from a 3-year EU research project. The platform is adopted by SSE Airtricity, AXA and Bank of Ireland in their websites in 2021, 22’ and 24′ respectively.
Gamma is restructured into Gamma Labs and Gamma Risk to provide better branding and clearer definition for the two businesses. Gamma Labs develops applications and services through the broader applications of location intelligence in use cases as diverse as tackling climate change to retail planning, telecommunications mapping and distribution optimisation. Gamma Risk is focused on property level risk solutions for insurance and banking.
