Based on over three years research* and leveraging the niche expertise in building energy analytics and software design of its creators, BERWOW was launched in Ireland in August 2020.
The product was first deployed on the SSE Airtricity website, guiding homeowners through the home retrofit options available. Today, BERWOW is found on multiple sites enabling deep understanding of deep retrofit and helping Ireland meet its goals for reducing carbon emissions.

BERWOW is a cloud-based technology platform developed to provide retrofit dashboards and calculators to homeowners. It uses BER certificate data to produce a list of energy upgrades options for houses and apartments. If the homeowner has a BER cert, and enters their certificate number or MPRN, BERWOW will retrieve their BER data file from the national BER database. It then checks all current conditions, (e.g. levels of roof insulation, wall insulation) and then recommends best practice upgrade measures.
The user can select and deselect measures or choose from the options provided to plan their own retrofit project. BERWOW provides typical industry average cost of works. If homeowners do not have a BER certificate, they can select from over 50 building typologies where they should generally find a dwelling type similar to theirs.
The homeowner, now well informed, can book a home survey to start on the road to retrofitting their home. BERWOW also calculates the grants available, energy partner incentives, a financial dashboard, a CO2 storyboard and mapped locational BER indicators.
BERWOW is currently available under a licence arrangement as a fully customisable, hosted and serviced white-label product.
BERWOW can be embedded and branded on your website and integrated with your CRM system. You tell us how it should look, and we look after the rest including updating the grant info, measures, costings and energy calculations.
“BERWOW aligns with our strategic focus to ‘protect more of what matters’ and adds to a host of existing initiatives focused on sustainability and climate action.” – AXA
