Data… the root of – and solution to – problems

Looking to understand the main pain points of businesses who use technology and data to make informed decisions, I recently shared a poll on LinkedIn asking:

“When you are producing insight used for decision making within your business, which of the following always adds time into your process…”

The response options were Data, Software, Resources or any combination of at least 2 of the 3 options provided.

The poll ran for a week with a kindly number of responses* made, resulting in a trend that was fairly emphatic…

How do I read this..?

Clearly data is the root of all evil… and is a major time suck for many. And whilst it’s not definitive, I imagine that data would be 1 of the factors cited by those that said a combination of at least 2.

It reminds me of the age-old term “rubbish in, rubbish out”… or at least I think that’s the right one.

It also plays nicely to what we – Gamma Location Intelligence – do as a business…

Data democratisation… data curation… ethical data or data provenance (oh yes, that’s a thing… it’s like knowing/understanding the source and quality of your ingredients, but from a data perspective, rather than your lamb kebab)…

We love data.

We inhale it.

It’s usually where we meet our prospective clients. Or at least that’s where the relationship starts.

Our first dates are in relation to their data. The good points. The bad points. The bits they want to improve. Their desires and aspirations. Now and in the future.

Our aim is to help you to make your data work hard. To deliver real, relevant and timely insight.

We share best practice. We provide solutions that are needed. We work through the hiccups.

It’s what we do…

So, if you use data – and it causes you pain – then we’d love to talk to you. We might be able to help.

* Thank you to those who did take the time to vote, I am truly grateful.
